In any case, I must keep going today and tomorrow and the next day — for surely no prophet can die outside Jerusalem!

God’s Blueprint

+ God has no choice- He must be true to who He is.

-Does it sound odd that the omnipotent Creator of the universe is not able to do something which goes against His nature? __________

-What if God was inconsistent; saying one thing, but doing another thing; how would that make you feel? __________

-Jesus said in another place, “I have not come from Heaven to do My will, but to do the will of Him  who sent Me.”  The Son is “equal” to the Father, but He did not consider equality with the Father to be important, but became obedient, even when it meant dying on the cross.  Jesus was not some “free spirit” flitting from one place to another, haphazardly or randomly doing acts of kindness and saying snarky things to make “the establishment” uncomfortable.  The Son had the power to send almost countless Angels against His tormentors; chose not to because that was not in the plan.

How does it make you feel to know that Jesus was bound to act according to His nature? __________

God’s Best

+ As Christians, we have two kinds of righteousness; our first righteousness is what God gives us.  This righteousness has been described as “alien” because it does not come from us; God gives us His righteousness through Christ.  This is why Isaiah said, “To us a son is given.”  Christ had no choice according to His Divine nature; that is why He said, “I must keep going.”

Christ is driven to find the lost sheep; how does this make you feel about God’s love for you? __________
