John's disciples told him about all these things. Calling two of them, he sent them to the Lord to ask, "Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?”

(From the Gospel reading for 12.16.12)

“Who is Jesus?”

Get To Know Your “Neighbor”

God’s Blueprint

+ Jesus was sent into the world so that we could clearly see & hear God’s grace; so that the Holy Spirit would have a chance to present us with the Truth; because at the appointed time, there will be a judgment of man.

The irony of this verse is high; here is Jesus, God in human form, come to give us a path away from God’s judgment & He is the one being questioned!  Jesus did not come here to be judged by man; but to save man from God’s judgment.  Give Him a praise clap if you are thankful.

Because of Jesus’ love for the people asking the question, He answers them gently.  Your questions may be disrespectful of Jesus; but praise God, He will still answer you gently while there is still time.

Where has God shown patience with you in your life? __________

+ John sent more than one disciple because in Jewish culture, every matter had to be established by more than one witness.  This is what the religious leaders did to Jesus at His “trial” in their kangaroo court.  Jesus did not brag about Himself (John 5:31closeJohn 5:31 31 If I alone bear witness about myself, my testimony is not deemed true. (ESV) closeJohn 5:31closeJohn 5:31 31 If I alone bear witness about myself, my testimony is not deemed true. (ESV) 31 If I alone bear witness about myself, my testimony is not deemed true. (ESV) ); He had complete confidence in who He was, He knew Who sent Him.  Brothers & Sisters in Christ, this also is our confidence.

God’s Best

+ The Bible itself was God’s witness that Jesus was the Messiah (John 5:39closeJohn 5:39 39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, (ESV) closeJohn 5:39closeJohn 5:39 39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, (ESV) 39 You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, (ESV) ); King David knew that his descendant would be God in human form (Psalm 110:1closePsalm 110:1 Sit at My Right Hand A Psalm of David. 110:1 The Lord says to my Lord:

until I make your enemies your footstool.” (ESV)

).  Jesus is God come to walk with us, to take us to the new Garden; all who have rejected Him will be separated from us; there will be no shadows or stains of sin.
