Today I went to a late lunch with Pr. Lawrence Gboeah (a Liberian immigrant, serving a dual Parish in Newark, NJ- Redeemer Lutheran and Christ Assembly Lutheran).  He took me to a Liberian restaurant in Newark.  I had never been here before, but was definitely looking forward to it- I grew up in Nigeria, West Africa; so I love any chance I get to eat fufu and soup.

This is what fufu and soup looks like.  It is yummy :>)  I ate all of it (well, almost all of the scotch bonnet red pepper)

This is Mary Deshreld; she and her husband Joshua have owned their Liberian restaurant for 14 years.  My friend, Pr. Lawrence Gboeah has eaten here many times before.

Today, Pr. Gboeah asked Mary if he could hold a Bible study in her restaurant when it was closed for business.  Mary was very glad for her and Joshua to host the House Church.

Mary and Joshua have visited churches but have never been "plugged in" to a church before.  They are looking forward to hosting Pr. Gboeah's House Church.

When we were done with lunch and thanking Mary and Joshua for wanting to host the new House Church; we stepped outside and there, getting ready to walk into his apartment comples was Adolphus Carter.

Adolphus is a member of Pr. Gboeah's church; but he has not been regular in his attendance for some time.  Like many immigrants- Adolphus works three jobs and his schedule is always changing.

Adolphus apologized to Pr. Gboeah for his attendance recently.  Pr. Gboeah gave Adolphus a big hug and then with a bigger smile, shared the good news- their Church was starting a new House Church in the Liberian restaurant right next door to Adolphus' apartment on Sunday nights :>)

Adolphus was very happy and can't wait to start attending Church again.

Before we left, Pr. Gboeah and I said a Prayer together in my car outside the restaurant thanking God for this incredible hour with the Holy Spirit in Newark, NJ.
