“Urban Immigrant Missions 2015”

In a city that never sleeps; everyone needs a prayer.

Come and experience firsthand an urban outreach among immigrants which God is blessing.

Servant teams will have the opportunity to participate in a prayer based mission approach as we complete home repairs for immigrants and refugees; share the Catechism with children; lead a community VBS; go Prayer Walking; work with the Mayor’s task force; participate in community building with the Chaplains in the Newark Police Department; assist the Newark Public Schools with special projects, worship with an immigrant House Church and minister to the needs of others through our urban food pantries.

You will also be taught basic mission principals as outlined in the book, “iPray” that you can take home to your own church and community. The congregations of the NJ District are fully committed to supporting the short term mission teams who stay with us. Fellow Lutherans will stop by and check on your team; bringing some good East Coast eats.

In your free time, you can see the Statue of Liberty; Freedom Tower; Ellis Island; the Atlantic Ocean- did you know New Jersey has more American Revolutionary battlefield sites than any other state?

How will the participants grow in faith and in servanthood from this Servant Event?
Our ministry is devoted to the focus of the Apostles as revealed in Acts chapter 6- Prayer and the Word; and we do this for the purpose of sharing the Good News with those not yet saved in order that by the power of the Holy Spirit, we might begin new Word & Sacrament worshipping communities which are planted through existing LCMS congregations; under the supervision of their regularly called and ordained Pastors.

A typical week will start on Sunday/Monday and end the following Sunday after a Mission Celebration Worship service (non communion) with the community and the Congregation. Arrival is typically after 2pm on Sunday; departure from the Church will be at 2pm on Sunday.

We are receiving teams from June 15 - Aug 16. Pray about sending your mission team, don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.
